Boil Water Advisory For Western Portion Of Trigg County

A boil water advisory is in effect for Barkley Lake Water customers in the western portion of Trigg County following a water main break Monday morning.

Barkley Lake Water Superintendent John Herring says the water main break was discovered around 5:00 Monday morning, with water service restored to customers around 10:00. Because of the water main break, Herring says all of Trigg County west of the intersection of Canton Blue Springs Road and Blue Springs Road remains under a boil water advisory until further notice.

Under a boil water advisory the CDC says use bottled or boiled water for drinking, and to prepare and cook food. If bottled water is not available, bring water to a full rolling boil for 1 minute, then allow it to cool before use. Boil tap water even if it is filtered. Do not use water from any appliance connected to your water line, such as ice and water from a refrigerator. Breastfeeding is the best infant feeding option. If you formula feed your child, provide ready-to-use formula, if available.
