Governor Beshear Announces Volunteer Kentucky Website

Governor Andy Beshear announced a new program and website named ‘Volunteer Kentucky’ Thursday afternoon.

Beshear says the program will be operated through the Cabinet for Health and Family Services.

He adds the website will connect residents to many good organizations.

During Thursday’s COVID-19 update, Public Health Commissioner Dr. Steven Stack defended the governor’s recommendation to keep students out of the classroom until Monday, September 28. In his presentation, Dr. Stack showed how cases increased in the state of Georgia when students returned back to the classroom and shared issues in other states.

Among other things, Dr. Stack recommends Kentuckians get their flu shots as flu season is coming up.

Governor Beshear confirmed 785 new COVID-19 cases Thursday, as well as, 6 additional deaths. He adds the positivity rate now sits at 5.67%.
