McGrath, McConnell Clinch Trigg County Primary Victories

It may be a close race across the Commonwealth, but Trigg County residents made their voice heard for the Democratic candidate they want to run against U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.

Amy McGrath won Trigg County with a vote of 676 to 371 for Charles Booker. Every other Democratic candidate received 25 or fewer votes, except for Bennie Smith who received 36, Mike Broiheir who received 70, and Mary Ann Tobin who had 113 votes.

Mitch McConnell led the way in the Republican Primary in the county with 1,208 votes compared to C. Wesley Morgan’s 99 votes and other candidates who received under 40 votes each.

In the First District Court of Appeals race, Chris McNeill won with 983 votes, with Jenny Hines coming in second with 899 votes, and Judge Rene Williams receiving a total of 534 votes.

In the race for President of the United States, incumbent Donald Trump won the Republican Primary with 1,355 votes versus 106 for “Uncommitted”. In the Democratic Primary, Joe Biden won with 910 votes versus 229 for “Uncommitted”, 89 votes for Bernie Sanders, and less than 25 for all other candidates.

Trigg County Clerk Carmen Finley tells the News Edge she is pleased with the turnout for the Primary Election.
