Christian County Votes For Booker, McConnell In Senate Race

Christian County voters threw their support behind Democrat United States Senate candidate Charles Booker and Republican incumbent Mitch McConnell during the 2020 Primary Election.

According to the Christian County Clerk’s office Charles Booker received 2,656 votes, with Amy McGrath racking up 1,905 votes in the Democrat United States Senate primary.  Republican Mitch McConnell garnered 2,503 votes to easily win over the closest finisher C. Wesley Morgan.

In the Democratic Presidential primary former Vice-President Joe Biden received 3,671 votes, with President Donald Trump receiving 2,775 votes in the Christian County Republican primary.

In First District Kentucky Court of Appeals race, Chris McNeil won with 3,058 votes, with Jenny Hines receiving 2,594, and Judge Renee Williams finishing third with 1,748 votes.

In the Hopkinsville City Council Ward 1 Democrat Primary incumbent Darvin Adams defeated former councilman Thomas Grant 156 to 67.  In the Ward 6 Democrat Primary Paula Knight beat Ken Hatzikorzian 192 to 180.  In the Ward 7 Republican Primary Richard Covington defeated Dustin Gilbert 135 to 85.  In the Ward 9 Democrat Primary incumbent Patricia Waddell-Bell edged out Ardell Owens 176 to 149.  And in the Ward 10 Republican City Council Primary Steve Keel won over Robert Almy 76 to 31.

The clerk’s office reports 9,031 of 53,639 registered voters percent turned out to vote by absentee or on election day, which amounts to just under 18 percent.
