A Hopkinsville man accused in a fatal shooting on Kenwood Drive in Hopkinsville more than three years ago entered a guilty plea to an amended charge of manslaughter in Christian Circuit Court Friday morning.

Sergio Del Angel was charged with murder, three counts of first-degree wanton endangerment, and other offenses in the death of Kristofer Armstrong who was shot on the front porch of a Kenwood Drive home on May 11, 2017.

Del Angel and his defense attorney David Rye, along with Assistant Commonwealth’s Attorney Jared Smith appeared before Judge John Atkins. Smith presented the plea agreement with the charges and recommended sentences.

Smith said the total sentence is 20-years and they are recommending Del Angel not be eligible for parole.

Del Angel then entered guilty to all the offenses and Judge Atkins accepted his plea.

Judge Atkins set a separate hearing for Del Angel’s formal sentencing in August.
