Trigg County Clerk Lays Out Plan For June Primary Election

Since the May primary election has been pushed back to June 23, due to COVID-19, Trigg County Clerk Carmen Finley says there will be some changes to the election process to make it safer for everyone involved.

Finley says Governor Andy Beshear and Secretary of State Michael Adams issued an Emergency Order and agreed to allow all registered voters to use absentee voting by mail, if possible due to the pandemic.

Finley adds there will be an online portal in which voters may request an absentee ballot.

When ballots are completed they can be mailed or dropped off at the Trigg County Clerk’s office, including using the drive-thru window.

Finley says there will be in-person voting but only at the Emergency Operations Center (EOC) at 39 Jefferson Street behind the Trigg County Justice Center.

The in-person voting from June 1 to June 22 will only be available by appointment only from 8:00 AM until 4:00 PM. You can call (270) 522-4412 to make an appointment. In-person voting will continue on Election Day on June 23 from 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM at the EOC building.

Finley reports election results will be reported as a consolidated county total, not by precinct as they have done in the past.

She adds they will be taking optimal measures to promote a safe and sterile voting environment and voters will be required to practice social distancing.

If you have any questions or concerns, Finley encourages you to call her office at (270) 522-6661.
