Pennyroyal Healthcare Service Receiving Federal Funding To Fight COVID-19

U.S. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell announced Wednesday that Kentucky will receive more than $21-million from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services to support 25 Community Health Centers to combat the coronavirus.

According to McConnell’s office, Pennyroyal Healthcare Service, Inc. in Hopkinsville will get a little more than $567,000 to help with local efforts. The funding comes as a part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security (CARES) Act that Senator McConnell led to passage last month. As a result of the act, the Commonwealth will see at least $1.25-billion in relief.

McConnell says for many across the state, particularly in rural communities, these health centers provide vital access to quality, primary care.

David Bolt, CEO of the Kentucky Primary Care Association, says the Community Health Centers in Kentucky are grateful for the support and that the centers serve as the state’s safety-net for healthcare.
