Local Industries Feeling Effects Of COVID-19 Pandemic

The COVID-19 pandemic is continuing to have an effect on local businesses and industries, who are doing their best to remain open during this difficult and unusual time.

South Western Kentucky Economic Development Council Director Carter Hendricks tells the News Edge each industry is affected differently.

Hendricks said Friday there are 2,500 workers in Todd, Trigg, and Christian Counties that are out of work due to COVID-19-related shutdowns. However, he said most local industries are exempt from Governor Andy Beshear’s recent executive orders since they are life-sustaining essential or in the supply chain to a life-sustaining essential company.

Hendricks adds everyone should take advantage of recent services that have become available during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Hendricks also encourages everyone to pay attention to the latest developments through local media and to visit kycovid19.ky.gov for the latest updates from the state government.
