Alan Watts – The Farm Broadcaster’s Farm Broadcaster

Our farm broadcasters in the United States who have achieved large and loyal followings could also be characterized as agricultural personalities. And Alan Watts most certainly has earned the title. Alan is more than just someone who reads the news of farming to his loyal audience. He truly is a friend of the farmer.

In the several years that I have known Alan, I have watched time and again as people gather around him at farm meetings. I can see when a grower greets him that there is more than just a passing acquaintance here. They consider Alan to be a trusted source for the news that can make a difference in their farming operations. More than that, though, they value Alan’s friendship and his loyalty to their industry.

While Alan’s daily visits with his audience in their farm kitchens, offices, and tractor cabs make him seem like a member of the family to the producers, his travels to cover meetings important to them also matter to the farmers. He doesn’t just sit in a radio studio. Alan goes where he can gather first-hand the important stories for his listeners, whether the news is in Frankfort, Lexington or Washington, D.C.

In an era when there are so many voices competing for our ears, Alan Watts stands out with Kentucky farmers and the businesses that serve them. He is a known, trusted and appreciated voice for agriculture…and has been for years.
