Legislators Express Concerns Over State Budget Funding

Four Western Kentucky legislators are expressing their concerns about how Governor Andy Beshear’s proposed budget will be funded.

State Representatives Walker Thomas and Myron Dossett

and Senators Whitney Westerfield and Stan Humphries were among those on hand for the Governor Beshear’s budget address Tuesday at the state capitol in Frankfort.

Thomas, who represents the eighth district, says there are quite a few positives in the budget proposal.

Ninth District State Representative Myron Dossett says he is concerned that the proposed $2,000 pay raise is only for teachers.

Third District State Senator Whitney Westerfield says there is no plan for funding the proposals long-term.

First District State Senator Stan Humphries says he was disappointed to see the budget target agriculture as a funding source.

The legislators comments on the budget, the state road plan, and a number of other issues can be heard during the Legislative Update Program following the Noon News Edge on 96.5 and 100.9 WHVO.
