State Auditor Mike Harmon says no problems were found in audits of the former Trigg County sheriff’s tax settlement and the current sheriff’s tax settlement for 2018. Harmon reports the financial statement of former Sheriff Ray Burnam II fairly presents the taxes charged, credited and paid for the period April 17, 2018 through November 30, 2018. He adds the 2018 financial statement of Sheriff Jason Barnes for the period of December 1, 2018 through April 15, 2019 also fairly represents the taxes charged, credited and paid.
In addition, the auditor noted there were no instances of noncompliance found in either of the two tax settlement audits and no material weaknesses involving internal control over financial reporting and its operation.
