Woman Charged With DUI After Hopkinsville Wreck Saturday

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office has released more information about a wreck that occurred at the Lovers Lane-Eagle Way off-ramp at Pennyrile Parkway Saturday morning.

Sheriff’s Sgt. Jeff Goulet told the News Edge Saturday the crash occurred just before 8:00 Saturday morning when 25-year old Rachel Bailey-Jones was driving on the exit ramp and her car hit a guardrail, which caused the vehicle to overturn onto its top and block the ramp.

An arrest report released Monday says deputies could smell a strong odor of alcoholic beverages on her breath and slurred speech. They also reported Bailey-Jones had a blood alcohol content of .256, three times the legal limit, when she was given a preliminary breathalyzer test. Deputies say she initially refused medical assistance at the scene but changed her mind and was taken to the hospital.

After she was medically cleared, she was booked into the Christian County Jail charged with DUI with aggravating circumstances.

The off-ramp was closed for over an hour while deputies worked the wreck and the car was removed from the scene.
