Farm Safety At Wildcat Chevrolet And Nutrien Ag

National Farm Safety Week is one of my favorite weeks of the years as a Farm Broadcaster. It is one of two weeks I have a chance to visit with farmers and members of the agribusiness community to discuss farming, agriculture and farm safety.

National Farm Safety Week began Monday, September 16, as the Ag Edge made stops at Wildcat Chevrolet and Nutrien Ag. Wildcat Chevrolet General Manager Michael Oliver, who is also a farmer, says safety in the field and on the road is critical.

Oliver adds another concern is safety in the grain bin during harvest season.

Oliver also reminded farmers about the Land of Lakes discount that is available for vehicle purchases and announced the Wildcat Chevrolet was building a new entrance in front of the dealership along US 68.

Meanwhile, Nutrien Ag Hopkinsville Manager Brian Fitzsimmons says he and his staff are trained on safety practices that they use each and every day, but adds they often learn and discuss safety with their customers.

Fitzsimmons says one aspect of farm safety also comes into play when farmers decide to hire companies to do custom spraying and application.

Fitzsimmons also said the transition from Security Seed and Chemical to Nutrien Ag was a positive move for farmer customers and the employees of the business. He added the resources of the company allow the Hopkinsville Nutrien location to better serve customers throughout the region.
