South Road Bridge In Trigg Co. Could Reopen Next Week

Trigg County Fiscal Court heard an update Monday evening concerning the bridge replacement project on Highway 139/South Road.

Judge/Executive Hollis Alexander says he was told by a worker on the Burge Creek Bridge that it could be re-opened as early as next week.

As we have previously reported, the bridge is closed for a total replacement as a part of ‘Bridging Kentucky’. The program is a six-year process to rehabilitate, repair, or replace more than 1,000 critical structures across the state.

Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Spokesman Keith Todd tells the News Edge once the bridge is safely in place, it can be re-opened to traffic.

The bridge closed in early June to begin the replacement. Motorists are currently able to detour via Old Canton Pike, Old Dover Road, and Pleasant Hill Church Road to get around the closed bridge.
