Two Tornadoes Confirmed In Western Kentucky Sunday

A storm survey team with the National Weather Service in Paducah says preliminary findings indicate two EF-1 tornadoes touched down in western Kentucky Sunday afternoon leaving behind widespread damages.

The National Weather Service survey team reported Monday morning a preliminary report shows an EF-1 tornado was the cause of the damage at Moors Resort and Marina on Kentucky Lake in Marshall County.

The team reports they also found an EF-1 tornado caused damages across Carlisle, Ballard, and McCracken counties, tracking northwest of Bardwell to Lovelaceville and Lone Oak. The National Weather Service reported lots of damage to businesses in south Paducah.

According to Murray State News, one person, who was not a student at Murray State University, was struck by lightning on the campus just outside of White College. The individual was treated at Murray-Calloway County Hospital.

No major damage was reported with this line of storms Sunday in Christian, Todd, and Trigg counties.

During the first round of storms Friday evening, the National Weather Service confirmed two-weak EF-1 tornadoes, with peak winds between 100 and 105 mph touched down in Christian County, in the areas of Pierce Lane near Gracey and north of the intersection of Woosley and Striped Bridge Road, about a mile and a half northeast of Herndon.

Fortunately, no injuries or fatalities were reported from the weekend tornadoes or severe storms.
