The Kentucky General Assembly could approve a bill that would allow the state to borrow $150 million dollars to make some needed improvements at State Parks.

According to the Courier-Journal, the Kentucky House of Representative budget committee unanimously approved a new version of House Bill 268 which calls for $2.2 million dollars in added state spending in 2019-20 to begin payments on $20 million dollars on bonds for state park improvements. The bill says it is the intent of the legislature to borrow additional funds in the 2020-22 state budget to complete the $150 million dollar renovation plan.

The new bill also proposes giving the University of Louisville an additional $5 million dollars in 2019-20 for the Multidisciplinary Institute for Robotics and Advance Manufacturing. The new bill would provide $13 million more dollars to the University of Kentucky. And a key provision would freeze current pension contribution rates paid by quasi-governmental entities and regional universities for one more year until June 30, 2020.
