An escort through downtown Hopkinsville welcomed numerous students back home in style Tuesday afternoon with 8th grader Allie Fort saying she was excited to win Governor’s seat.

Fort says she learned a lot through the whole experience.

She adds there is a lot more she will get to do over the next year.

The Kentucky Youth Assembly consists of middle and high school students from across the Commonwealth gathering together to learn about the state’s government. According to Fort, they have a chance to create, debate, and vote on bills.

Meanwhile, during the conference Payton Alcorn, Elizabeth Pitts, Madison Sahm, and Jacob Young from Heritage Christian Academy created a bill that was passed through the House and Senate and then signed by the Lt. Governor.
