Hughes Wins Third Term As Jailer

James Hughes

Trigg County Jailer James Hughes will serve a third term in office after defeating Republican challenger Eddie Proffitt. Hughes got 3,396 votes in carrying all 14 precincts. Proffitt, who was making his first bid for public office, got 2,444 votes.

Hughes says he is looking forward to serving the citizens of Trigg County for another term. Hughes adds he plans to continue with the community service program.

Even though Trigg County does not have a jail, the jailer’s main responsibility is the transportation of prisoners to and from the Christian County Jail. Hughes was first elected jailer in 2010.
