Trigg School Board Hears Concern On Resource Officer

The Trigg County Board of Education heard a concern from parents and moved into the next phase for the renovations at Trigg County Intermediate School during Thursday evening’s meeting. Angie Mills is the president of the Primary and Intermediate School Parent Teacher Association and brought a concern to the board on behalf of parents and community members.

Mills adds that she would like to see a solution to the problem quickly.

Superintendent Travis Hamby clarified that an officer does not control the light and they sit there to keep an eye on traffic.

Hamby says they will continue to work hard with the Cadiz Police Department.

According to Hamby, there is a certain vulnerability in talking about these issues in an open, public meeting.

In other business, board members approved a contract to work with Sherman Carter Barnhart Architects in Paducah. Sherman Carter Barnhart will design and oversee the renovation project at the intermediate school pending approval from the Kentucky Department of Education. The school system will also be looking for someone to become the District Web Content Coordinator. That person will be in charge of updating the district’s website and social media pages on a regular basis.

Board members also approved utilizing Trigg County Hospital to test samples for the random drug tests that are done on athletes at Trigg County High School.
