arrested

A Hopkinsville man stopped by deputies on the Pennyrile Parkway is facing charges for allegedly driving while intoxicated and with a child in the vehicle.

The Christian County Sheriff’s Office reports deputies observed 38-year old Ryan Gutelius driving southbound on the parkway shortly after 4:00 Wednesday morning and cross the fog line and hit traffic barrels in a construction zone. The deputy conducted a traffic stop and reports he smelled a strong odor of alcoholic beverages while talking with Gutelius, who also had his 10-year old son in the vehicle. The deputy contacted the Department of Community Based Services to care for the child.

Deputies say Gutelius refused field sobriety tests, but registered a .240 on a breathalyzer.

Gutelius was lodged in the Christian County Jail charged with Careless Driving, Operating a Motor Vehicle Under the Influence, 2nd Degree Wanton Endangerment, and Failure to Notify Transportation Department of Address Change.
