Courtroom Disruption Leads To Delay In Arson Case

The case against a Cerulean woman charged with arson and attempted murder has been continued following her outburst Wednesday morning in Christian Circuit Court.

While Judge John Atkins was hearing another case, 32-year old Karen Brafman was sitting in the juror’s box waiting for her case to be called when she broke down in tears and started yelling.

A court bailiff quickly removed Brafman from the courtroom. Judge Atkins called her case a few minutes later and stated her pretrial conference was continued until October 3rd at 8:30 a.m.

Brafman, of Cerulean, was indicted last month on charges of 1st Degree Arson, six counts of Attempted Murder, 2nd Degree Arson, and Retaliating Against a Participant in a Legal Process. The charges stem from May 11 when state police reported Brafman set fire to the mobile home of Craig Calloway and Ashley Webster at 8894 Princeton Road. There were no injuries reported.
