Upon running information about Smith, police discovered he is a registered sex offender. Officer say Smith stated several times that he has been staying at his listed address in Cadiz since being released from prison; however, police report ECC nor officers could find anywhere on the registry where Smith had a current Cadiz address.

Raines was charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child, and Smith was charged with Failure to Comply with Sex Offender Registration. Both subjects were lodged in the Christian County Jail.

Police say the infant was located safe at the home alone.
