Authorities say two juveniles have been arrested in connection to a couple of bullying incidents that recently occurred at Hopkinsville High School after videos of the incidents were posted on social media.
Christian County Sheriff’s Office Captain Chris Miller says the first incident occurred last Wednesday afternoon and involved a 17-year old juvenile. Captain Chris Miller says the juvenile was immediately arrested and charged with 4th Degree Assault, 2nd Degree Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, and 3rd Degree Terroristic Threatening.
Captain Miller reports the second incident occurred Monday morning and involved a 16-year old juvenile who was also immediately arrested and charged with 4th Degree Assault.
Authorities say the school resource officer took appropriate actions the day of the events and the students were removed from HHS.
Concerning the video, Captain Miller says they are asking that everyone please consider not sharing the video on their social media pages, out of respect for the victim and their family. He adds the video depicts some disturbing footage, and the sheriff’s office ask you to imagine if it were your child.
Christian County Public Schools also released a statement regarding the incidents. The statement says district is aware of the videos circulating on social media of a fight between three students at Hopkinsville High School. School officials say they take these incidents seriously and the students in the fight have been removed from the school system. Though these incidents are disturbing, officials note the district is blessed to have over eleven hundred students enter HHS each day not only respectful of their fellow students and teachers, but prepared to learn.
