Road Conditions Improved Saturday, Will Refreeze Overnight

The sunshine and a lot of hard work by road crews have helped road conditions to improve Saturday. Trigg County Emergency Management Director David Bryant says some secondary roads are still hazardous.

Emergency Management Director Randy Graham says the same about county roads in Christian County, adding that roads will become dangerous again Saturday night.

If you have to be out on the roads Saturday night, he says leave yourself plenty of time. Otherwise, Graham stay at home because it is going to be quite icy.

Meanwhile, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman Keith Todd says the lanes of Interstate 24 in western Kentucky are pretty clear, except for a few snow packed spots on the passing lane. He says any roads that are still in bad shape Saturday night will probably remain that way until late next week because of cold temperatures and more snow in the forecast.

He adds their engineers have some concerns about roads refreezing Saturday night and Sunday night.

If you are going to be out on the roadways the next several nights, Todd says you need be aware of the possibility of black ice.
