Winter Storm Could Bring Ice And Significant Snow

A significant winter storm will impact our area in after midnight Thursday into Friday afternoon, impacting travel and possibly causing some power outages. The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Storm Watch for the entire area from 9:00 Thursday night until 9:00 Friday night.

Lead Forecaster, David Humphries with the National Weather Service in Paducah says our area will see the rain changing over to freezing rain in the early morning hours Friday.

He says then our area could see three or more inches of snow.

With the ice accumulation predicted, Weather Warning Coordinator Rick Shanklin says power outages will be possible.

With the cold temperatures over the weekend, Shanklin says there will not be much improvement to road conditions.

The National Weather Service in Nashville has also issued a Winter Storm Watch for western middle Tennessee, including Henry, Montgomery and Stewart counties in effect from Friday morning through Friday evening.
