Two Charged After Todd County Traffic Stop

A Hopkinsville man and Lewisburg woman were arrested on various charges during a traffic stop in Todd County Saturday. Kentucky State Police say a trooper pulled over a truck driven by 35 year old Alan Young, of Hopkinsville, around 3:45pm for speeding and reckless driving on Kentucky 104, about four miles south of Trenton.

During the stop, the trooper reportedly detected drug activity and found suspected methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia inside the truck. State police say the passenger, 31-year old Amy Belcher of Lewisburg, stated the meth belonged to her.

Young and Belcher were taken into custody. Young was charged with Operating on a Suspended or Revoked License, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Speeding 26 mph or More, Reckless Driving and Failure to Maintain Insurance. Belcher was charged with 1st Degree Possession of a Controlled Substance (Meth) and she had an active warrant for her arrest for Parole Violation. Both subjects were lodged in the Todd County Detention Center.
