First District Congressman James Comer is currently unopposed for another term after his opponent announced Saturday he is pulling out of the race. Democrat Sam Gaskins from Herndon announced he is dropping his candidacy.
In his post on social media, Gaskins the decision to drop out of the race came because of unforseen health issues that stem from his time in the military.
Gaskins noted through the past three years he has met some amazing people, some of which he now calls friends. He notes he will not stop his advocacy for those with disabilities or for medical cannabis. Gaskin adds he will continue to work for western and south central Kentucky.
