A Todd County home was destroyed by fire on New Year's Day. According to the Elkton Fire Department, no one was home at 1834 Old Railroad Lane when the fire broke out early that morning, so there were no injuries. However, when the fire department and other emergency responders arrived, it was already too late as the home was engulfed in flames. Freezing temperatures made the fire especially difficult to control.
In addition to the Elkton Fire Department, the Guthrie Volunteer Fire Department, Todd County Sheriff's Department, EMS, and the local chaplain were at the scene. The investigation into this incident is ongoing.
