Cold Temperatures Gripping Area Through Midweek

Temperatures across Western Kentucky are expected to continue their plunge through New Year's night as bitterly cold air moves into the region. The National Weather Service has issued a wind chill advisory that will be in effect until noon Tuesday, with wind chill readings expected to range from -5 to -15 Monday and Tuesday mornings.
Weather Edge forecaster David Powell says the area will experience some of the coldest temperatures felt in the last few years.

The NWS says such an advisory means frostbite and hypothermia can strike those unprepared. Minimizing time spent outdoors and dressing in layers is recommended, along with taking steps to insulate exposed pipes. Pets should also be brought inside.
