From the Weather Edge: Forecasters say isolated severe thunderstorms will be possible late Thursday afternoon into Thursday evening. The Storm Prediction Center has placed the area south of a line from just south of Paducah to near Owensboro under a slight risk of severe weather for that time period.

Fatal Accident On I-24


One person was killed and traffic on I-24 was shutdown following an accident Friday morning on I-24 in Christian County. The accident occurred just after 8am near the 87.5-mile marker.

Gander Observance In Hopkinsville


The observance of the 26th anniversary of the Gander crash took place Monday morning in Hopkinsville. The event honored the 248 soldiers and 8 crewmen killed in the crash. The Screaming Eagles on their way home from a six-month peacekeeping mission on the Sinai Peninsula.

Wednesday Accident In Cadiz


One person was transported to the hospital following a two vehicle accident at the intersection of US 68 and Main Street in Cadiz. Hands Of Hope Fire


Firefighters from three volunteer fire departments responded Tuesday afternoon to a fire at the Hands of Hope building on Old Madisonville Road in Christian County. Firefighters from the Highland, Westside and Mannington Fire Departments were called out to the scene at 5865 Old Madisonville Road around 1:46pm Tuesday.

Field Fire On Blackhawk Road


Members of the Cerulean and Montgomery Fire Departments were called out to an extensive field fire on the north side of Blackhawk Road. The fire was essentially three seperatefires that stretched out for nearly a mile along the road, and smoke from the area could be seen for miles.

Veterans Day 2011 - Cadiz Woman Served In World War 2


Reeling from the attack on Pearl Harbor, American men marched off to the battlefields. With the escalation of War World II in Europe and the Pacific Rim, women began filling non-combat positions through the Women’s Army Auxiliary Corps. Christine Larkins, of Cadiz, was among those to serve.

Eddy Grove Vineyard Hosts Annual Fall Festival


The Annual Fall Festival was held Saturday October 22nd at Eddy Grove Vineyard and Winery in Caldwell County.  Children who attended could paint, work with air-dry clay and take a hay ride to the petting zoo.  Adults could purchase art ranging from jewelry to handmade wooden puzzles and decorated cupcakes.

Home Total Loss


Officials say the home of  81-year-old Mary Partain, former owner and operator of Metcalf Florist in downtown Hopkinsville, is a total loss today after a fire broke out in the rear of her South Sunset Circle home last night.  After calling 911, Mrs. Partain escaped through the flames, unharmed, and was able to drive to her daughters house down the street.

Nearly 100 friends of Kristy Frensley participated in the 4th Annual Our Three Angels Trail Ride at Pennyrile State Resort Park. Ride organizer Terry Williams says the proceeds from the ride will be donated to the charity of Kristy’s choice, namely the crime victims fund.

Pasta For Paws


There was a good crowd attending the Christian County Humane Society's Pasta For Paws fundraiser Saturday night. The event was held at the Hopkinsville High School cafeteria and the culinary class at HHS provided the food. All proceeds from the event will be used for the Humane Society's activities.

Antique Tractor Plow Day


The antique tractor plow day was held Saturday at the Garnett Farms near Pembroke on Long Pond Road.   According to Hal Fennell, there were 65 antique tractors and 5 teams of horses and mules participating in the plowing event. There were a great number of spectators on hand and according to officials, 150 acres were plowed on Saturday.

Nature Fest 2011


Organizers say there were between 1,200, and 1,500 attendees at this years Nature Fest that was held Saturday at Jeffers' Bend Environmental and Botanical Gardens in Hopkinsville. There were more than 30 activities and learning stations present. That included live butterfly release, LBL snake and amphibian display, canoe rides, hybrid auto display, hay rides and a walk in the woods.

Chili Cookoff


More than 50 teams competed in the Freedom Friday Festival Chili Cookoff on Friday in Hopkinsville. The event is part of the annual Salute Week festivities. Crowds of families enjoyed a perfect day and an opportunity to taste just about any type of chili.

The September meeting of the Cadiz/TC Chamber of Commerce was a very well-attended Lunch and Learn Session Thursday at the Renaissance Center. Around 50 people in attendance. Crazy White Boys


The temperatures cooled down, and it was a great evening for the Crazy White Boys Concert at Kenlake Saturday night featuring The Justin Hatcher Band, Bush Hawg, Mark Wills and Mark Chessnut. The concert was a tribute to our military, and WKDZ was on hand with prizes for the crowd.

Trigg County Schools Meet & Greet


Hundreds of Trigg County residents turned out Monday night to have pancakes and sausage and find out about opportunities in the community for their children.  The school system also opened the Meet and Greet up to people wishing to volunteer with the schools spending an hour on WKDZ 106.5FM talking about the opportunities for volunteers.

Saturday's Hot August Car Show at Buffalo Wings & Rings was a huge success with a wide variety of cars and delicious food.The weather was perfect for strolling through the parking lot looking at the cars and hearing the stories that go along with them.

Greenville Road Accident


Four people were injured in a two vehicle accident on Greenville Road this (Monday) afternoon, with one person flown by Air-Evac from the scene. The accident occurred just before 3 o’clock near the Cave Street intersection by the Cave Springs Cemetery. 

Freedom Ride in Washington


Photos from Connie Konczyk's drive from New Jersey to DC Saturday where 1800-2000 motorcycles left Washington, DC, and were traveling to New York for the Freedom Ride. Unbelievable. Police closed entrance ramps going on to RT 95 in Baltimore.  Fire departments were taking their hook & ladders to raise American Flags over bridges and highways. Cars heading the opposite direction beeping their horns and waving. Quite an emotional experience.

The Christian County Chamber of Commerce helped kick off the 13th Annual Christian County Cattlemen's Rodeo Friday night with an After-Hours event that featured a dumby roping contest, dinner provided the Cattlemen's Association and several door prizes including a Holland Grill.

PRECC Employee Injured


Rescue workers load an employee of Pennyrile Rural Electric into a helicopter to be taken to the hospital after the employee, according to PRECC Spokesman Brent Gilkey, came into contact with an electric wire.  Neither the name nor the extent of the employee’s injuries have been released. 

Todd County Wreck Involving School Bus Claims Bowling Green Man


Kentucky State Police say a Bowling Green man died at Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville following a vehicle versus school bus wreck in Todd County, with no one on the bus injured.

Tractor Trailer Destroyed By Fire On Interstate 24 Tuesday Afternoon


The driver of tractor trailer says he was hauling corn gluten from Louden, TN to United Livestock in Mayfield when his rig caught fire and burned near Interstate 24's Exit 86 at Fort Campbell Boulevard.  The fire slowed traffic along the interstate for more than three hours.

Kentucky State Police Make Major Trigg County Marijuana Harvest


The Kentucky State Police's Drug Enforcement division harvested an estimated six million dollars worth of marijuana that was spotted by helicopter on the Trigg County Farm of James Adams, Jr, located on Siloam Road.  Click here to see photos of the operation taken by Adams.

Buddy Jewell Visits Cadiz


Country music singer and Nashville Star winner Buddy Jewell stopped in the WKDZ/WHVO Studios today on Michael Davis's show before heading to Cadiz Do It Best. where he signed autographs and gave a small outdoor concert. Really enjoyed having him in the studios, he is a super nice guy.

Charles Jackson Circus Museum Opens To The Public


Jackson’s widow Mildred joined Pennyroyal Area Museum staff and board members, along with Hopkinsville and Christian County officials to cut the ribbon to the Charles Jackson Circus Museum on the day that he would have celebrated his 92nd birthday.  News Director Alan Watts was among many who saw the museum for the first time Thursday and shares some of his photos.

Governor Steve Beshear says FP International will add 60 new jobs thanks to a three million dollar expansion that was announced Thursday afternoon at the Commerce Park location.

The Cadiz/Trigg County Chamber of Commerce may have hit an all time high for a monthly meeting on Thursday. Around sixty people were in attendance - representing our local workforce. 1st Brigade Combat Team Distinguished Member of the Regiment Induction


            The 1st Brigade Combat Team (Bastogne) inducted Distinguished Members of the Regiment and honored 55 Soldiers who sacrificed their lives in support of Operation Enduring Freedom.

Crofton Community Bone Marrow Drive


Pictures from the weekend Bone Marrow Drive on July 15 and 16 in Crofton. The drive was put on by Be The Match and was a benefit for Stephen Dunning.

Brice Long & Friends


Brice Long and Friends - Phillip White, Danny Wells, Richard Leigh and Dean Alexander rocked the house to a record crowd at the Bruce Convention Center Saturday night. Brice and Dean signed autographs and posed for pictures after the show for several hundred fans. The concert was a huge success, and all money raised will stay in Trigg and Christian Counties to help families at Christmas.

The Cadiz/TC Chamber of Commerce welcomed Jackson & Schalk, Attorneys at Law to the chamber on Friday with an official ribbon cutting. Jackson & Schalk have an office in Princeton and are thrilled to expand into Cadiz. Their office is located at 28 Main Street across from the Cadiz Christian Church next to the TC Red Cross office.

Trigg County’s All Star Girls (ages 7 thru 9) beat the Livingston Co. Rockets 12 – 2 in Friday night’s first round action.  Congratulations to the All Stars of Trigg County and best of luck for the remainder of the tournament. 

Car Wash


Never let it be said that Bill Booth does not pay his debts - Intern Kyle's car was washed!  Bill made a small "wager" that his blood pressure would be lower than Kyle's during recent testing and said he would wash Intern Kyle's car if he lost. (Now Kyle is 25 and Bill is............much, much, much older, so I'm not sure it was a smart wager in the first place). Nevertheless, Bill paid his debt Thursday, and we have the pictures to prove it.

MMA Extreme Fight Night Cage Match

Cadiz Field of Flags


More than 225 American Flags will fly through Saturday, July 10th, to honor veterans and active duty military near the entrance to the downtown Cadiz area.  Each of the flags include an information card that contains details about the person being honored and those who have chosen to honor them.  The Field of Flags project is being conducted by American Legion Post #74 in Cadiz.

Military Apprecition Bash


The Military Appreciation Bash at Kickers was a huge success - thanks to Blaine Larsen, Toyota of Hopkinsville, all the folks at Kickers and everyone that came out to help us salute our soldiers! Electric Blanket Cause Of Fire


Cadiz Fire Chief Kerry Fowler determined a faulty electric blanket started the fire that destroyed the Glendale Drive home of Myrtlelene Hooks Wednesday night. Fowler was assisted by Cadiz Police Chief Hollis Alexander, with the Fowler saying no foul play was suspected. (Full Gallery)

A EF-2 Tornado struck Christian County Thursday, February 24th, just north of the Hopkinsville city limits. The National Weather Service was out Friday morning to survey the damage and the News Edge followed along. Click here to see pictures from the damage.

Jared Stallons, Trigg County High School Senior, was crowned as the first ever Mr. Trigg County during the Mr. Trigg County pageant sponsored by the high school DECA club Friday night in the Little Theater.
