Household contacts and caregivers of children 6 months and younger because younger infants cannot be vaccinated.

Healthcare workers and emergency services personnel because infections among healthcare providers can be a source of infection for vulnerable patients.

Children 6 months through 4 years of age because they are often in close contact with other children in daycare and preschool settings.

Children 5 years through 18 years of age because they are in close contact with each other in the school setting, which increases the likelihood of disease spread.
