Cadiz Rotary Club Donation
The Cadiz Rotary Club wishes to thank Seven Springs Farms, Joe and KaDonna Nichols, Mike and Allison Oliver, and their entire staff for a $5270 donation from the sale of their award-winning corn. The Rotary Club received this generous donation at Fairholme Thursday night as part of their year-end Christmas celebration. Several members of the Cadiz Rotary Interact High School Club was also to Rotarians for the first time.

Bush Road Sporting Clays Raises $3700 For Toys For Tots
Bush Road Sporting Clays have been raising money for Toys For Tots every year since opening their doors in 1990. Owners, Bob and his dad Kenneth, have shooters from several states coming to this fundraiser and even sending money when unable to attend. That, and shooters who ask for a cup of coffee at the food stand, hand them a hundred dollar bill and leave, is what makes this event so special. This year was a huge success, raising $3700 to provide Christmas gifts for children in our area. Hats off to Bush road Sporting Clays and everyone participating in this fundraiser for a job well done!

Falcons Win Third State Championships

Trigg County Farm Bureau Annual Meeting
The Trigg County Farm Bureau Federation held the 74th Annual Meeting Friday night at the Trigg County Recreation Complex. President, Scott Bridges, gave updates about membership, activities, and more. The organization also adopted two policy initiatives that will be forwarded to the Kentucky Farm Bureau Federation.

Cherokee Park Restoration
The Kentucky Department Parks has begun restoration efforts to the old dining hall at Cherokee Park in Aurora. The park was Kentucky’s only African American Park from 1951 to 1964. Parks commissioner, Gerry Van Der Meer, Friends of Cherokee President, George Sholar, of Cadiz and Cadiz Councilwoman, Regina Jasper, were among those speaking about the future of the park.

Welcome Home Ceremony
More than 1,400 Vietnam Veterans from across the country gathered at Fort Campbell Army Airfield Sunday to participate in a true welcome home more than 30 years in the making. Family and friends of the veterans were joined by community members for what can only be described as a momentous occasion, which started with a 2 and a half minute standing ovation for the veterans. The post held three welcome home ceremonies due to the overwhelming response from former soldiers.

Cundiff Farms Wheat Harvest
Trigg County Farmer Ben Cundiff says this year’s wheat harvest has been better than expected in some areas on the farm, with other areas reporting some damage due to hail. Cundiff expected the harvest to be complete by last weekend, with double-crop soybean planting to be finished shortly after.

FIRE BLOCKED TRAFFIC ON WALLONIA ROAD TUESDAY AFTERNOON
Firefighters of the Cerulean and Montgomery Volunteer Fire Departments responded to a hay wagon blaze where several hay bales caught on fire and were dumped off the wagon on Wallonia Road, just past the Barefield Road intersection. Traffic was blocked for approximately an hour as firefighters battled the fires and smoldering hay bales.

Big Brothers Big Sisters Kars for Kids show in the Cadiz Baptist Church Parking lot on Saturday afternoon. Help was provided by the Cadiz Lions Club, who donated sales of burgers and hotdogs to BBBS, and the VFW for helping with the registration. There were over 25 classic cars and trucks on hand.

Trigg County Justice Center
Codell Construction Site Manager David Welker says the new Trigg County Justice Center is still on track to be completed in late July. 50 to 60 people are working inside the new building on a daily basis to install crown molding, cabinetry, floor tile, electronic wiring, windows and more. Although all events were moved to the Trigg County Middle School due to stormy weather, supporters turned out to celebrate life for cancer survivors and to remember those we have lost. It was an exciting day at Whayne Supply on Friday, May 5th as they celebrated their Grand Opening and Open House. The Weight Loss Challenge was sponsored by Trigg County Hospital, Hancock's Neighborhood Market, Curves of Cadiz and WKDZ/WHVO. The Biggest Loser Male was Doug Gloyd of the TCHS FatCats team at 28 lbs. The Biggest Loser Female was Kimberly Spann of the MSU Hopkinsville Team 5 at 27.8 lbs (not pictured). Peace, Love, Rock n Bowl!!!! 2009 Bowl for Kids Sake
It was a crazy and groovy time at Indian Hills Bowling Center on Saturday, March 14. There were prizes for gutter balls as well as strikes, not to mention the 7-10 split jackpot. First you get a paycheck, then part goes to Uncle Sam, then to the banks, next the house, and then the car......Sound familiar? Well, 7th Graders got a small taste of what financial reality is really like. Some had unrealistic goals of taking on three jobs while having four kids at home.
