Hopkinsville Council Discusses Free Parking

Instead of enacting a two hour parking ordinance, Hopkinsville is looking at enforcing an ordinance currently on the books with a few minor changes. During Thursday night's Committee of the Whole meeting, City Attorney Doug Willen told City Council a ordinance designating a free parking zone already exists.

Councilman Don Ahart says employees are not the only issue.

Mayor Carter Hendricks notes most downtowns have some restrictions on parking.

Willen went over the amendments decided on by council.

The ordinance changes move forward to City Council on a 9-1 vote with Ahart voting no and Paul Henson and Patricia Bell absent.

In other business Council heard an update on the WINS projects and from Police Chief Clayton Sumner on crime data.
