Work To Begin On Howard Anderson Bridge Project

Construction on U.S. 68, south of Cadiz, will begin near Howard Anderson Bridge now that a key permit to move the project forward has been approved. Lane restrictions on U.S. 68 from the Main Street intersection west to the South Road will cause a change in the traffic patterns in the coming weeks, with some lane closures expected.

Keith Todd, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet spokesman for District One, said work is beginning on a second span of the Howard Anderson Bridge near Arrowhead Golf Course.

The two-lane bypass was one of the first segments of the Mayfield to Bowling Green highway project to be completed in 1993 and will be the last to be four-laned. The state had to secure a permit from the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to cross Little River for the bridge project. Todd said they are still waiting for a similar permit to be approved for work to begin near Pete Light Springs hill, west of Cadiz.

The eight-mile, 54.2 million dollar project will connect the western edge of the Cadiz bypass with Land Between the Lakes and should be completed in late 2018.
