The President at Hopkinsville Community College is reported among the candidates for the top spot at a Florida college. According to a report at newschief.com, HCC President Dr. Jay Allen is on the current list of nine selected by the presidential selection committee at Polk State College, which has campuses in Winter Haven, Lakeland, Bartow, and Lake Wales.

According to the report, the screening committee pared the list of candidates down to 9, from 23, during a meeting Monday evening. According to a post on the Polk State College website Allen is on that list of nine candidates. The Polk State screening committee is expected to meet on May 1 to come up with a list of approximately five finalists to present to the college's Board of Trustees.

The five finalists would then be invited to visit the campuses, meet with students, faculty, staff and community members and be interviewed by the Board of Trustees. The report states that Polk State is hoping to select their next president on May 30.
