Hopkinsville Man Arrested Monday Night

A Hopkinsville man faces multiple charges following his arrest Monday evening, near the Pennyrile Apartments. According to the report, as Hopkinsville Police approached 24-year old Shaquan Locklear, a suspect in a shoplifting earlier in the day Monday, Locklear stood up, revealing a gun in pocket of his shorts. Police took the weapon, with Locklear then fleeing from the scene. He was located and taken into custody a short time later behind one of the apartment buildings in the complex.

He was charged with Fleeing or Evading, Possession of a Handgun by a Convicted Felon, and Theft. Additionally, after obtaining a confession from Locklear, police charged him with Theft of a Firearm, in connection with the recent theft of a semi-automatic pistol from a residence on Owen Drive.
