Kentucky Advances To Elite 8

The Battle of the Bluegrass Round Two was just that, a battle that came down to the final minutes, before the Kentucky Wildcats knocked off the Louisville Cardinals 74-69 in the Midwest Regional semifinals at Lucas Oil Field in Indianapolis. It looked like a long night for the Cats early in the game, as the Cardinals used a 14-1 run to take a double digit lead.

The Cats finally found their footing and battled back to within 3 points at the half. Louisville seemed to have control again late in the contest with a 7 point lead, but the Cats would not be denied. Aaron Harrison hit a three pointer with 31.5 seconds to go in the game that put UK ahead for good. The Cats hit big free throws down the stretch to enable them to hold on for their second consecutive heart stopping win in a row.

Dakari Johnson, Julius Randle, and Aaron Harrison led the Cats with 15 points each, while Andrew Harrison chipped in with 14. Russ Smith led Louisville with 23 points, while Luke Hancock added 19. Up next for the Cats is an Elite 8 game with the Michigan Wolverines Sunday afternoon. Listen live at 2:30 on 106.5 WKDZ. The winner will move on to the Final Four next weekend.
