Many experts had predicted that, after the inconsistency of the regular season, the Kentucky Wildcats would lose their first game in the SEC Tournament Friday night to LSU. The Cats came out renewed Friday night and that fire carried over to Saturday afternoon, as Kentucky defeated Georgia 70-58 to advance to Sunday’s SEC championship game.
The Cats jumped out to a 12-2 lead and were able to hold off the Bulldogs for the rest of the afternoon. UK got a huge game from Aaron Harrison and another solid effort from James Young to lead the way.
Up next for the Cats is the team that has been the biggest thorn in their side this season, the #1 Florida Gators, who advanced to the finals with a very hard fought physical win over the Tennessee Volunteers. Florida has beaten Kentucky by double digits in each of their two meetings this year. Coverage of Kentucky and Florida will get underway Sunday at 12:30pm on 106.5 WKDZ.
