Allen Selected To Be HCC President

The candidate from Mississippi will be the next President at Hopkinsville Community College. In their meeting Thursday, after two days of community forums with the final four candidates, it took the Hopkinsville Community College Board of Directors, and Kentucky Community and Technical College System President Doctor Michael McCall, just over two hours to make their decision, with the announcement that Jay Allen had accepted the position, coming just before 7:00 pm Thursday.

Allen, who has been serving as the Vice President of Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College’s Perkinston campus since 2010, says he is more of a hands on leader, but he knows delegation is key to a good president.

During his meeting with the community Wednesday, Allen talked about his passion for community colleges.

He even had a few goals in mind after touring the facilities on the Hopkinsville and Fort Campbell campuses and meeting with groups.

In his application letter, Allen wrote “Because of my passion, leadership ability, integrity, initiative, vision and entrepreneurial spirit, I believe I can advance Hopkinsville Community College and continue the legacy of KCTCS in providing instructional excellence and student success.” Allen will start his new position as HCC President January 1.
