Pedestrian Hit By Car On Russellville Road




Hopkinsville Police have identified the woman injured Saturday night on Russellville Road and say she is in critical condition. Police say it took a few hours to identify 63-year old Roberta Jackson because she did not have any identification on her at the time of the accident.

Hopkinsville Police report 22-year old Mercedes Christian of Elkton was eastbound on Russellville Road, in the area of East Seventh Street around 6:20 pm, when Jackson of Hopkinsville tried to cross the road in front of her. Police say Christian slammed on her brakes, but hit Jackson anyway, knocking her to the roadway.

Christian's car was then rear-ended by 51-year old Richard Combs of Pembroke, who was unable to stop his pickup. Both drivers were uninjured. Jackson was flown by Air Evac helicopter to Vanderbilt University Medical Center, where she is listed in critical condition.
