Attorney Accuses Detective Of Witness Tampering

New accusations are being leveled in the Chantell Humphries murder case, and this time they are against the Commonwealth's Attorney's Office. Claude Russell's attorney, John Stewart requested that Judge C.A. "Woody" Woodall vacate his ruling requiring Trigg County Sheriff Ray Burnam to turn over any evidence to Commonwealth's Attorney G.L. Ovey. Judge Woodall says it is the Commonwealth's Attorney's job to oversee all investigations.

Judge Woodall told Stewart he would entertain written motions on the matter, which will be heard January 10, 2014. Ovey is expected to be among the short list called to the stand during the evidentiary hearing. Ovey recused himself from the case and special prosecutor Tim Coleman was appointed to try the case.
