KVE Officers Seeking Pay Raise

The Kentucky General Assembly is being asked to consider pay raised for officers with Kentucky Vehicle Enforcement. According to a report out of Frankfort, the commander of the Division of Vehicle Enforcement says KVE officers' starting pay is some $9,000 a year less than that of State Police troopers.

In the Associated Press report, he adds that the situation needs to be changed to prevent turnover within the agency, which is designed to enforce laws regarding commercial vehicles that travel Kentucky highways. Beginning troopers with Kentucky State Police make just under $40,000 a year, while beginning KVE officers make just over $30,000 a year.
