State Police Investigating Murder Of Princeton Woman

Kentucky State Police are charging a Princeton man in the stabbing death of a Princeton woman.  KSP Detective Billy Sumner says around 5:00 am Tuesday, Caldwell County Sheriff's Deputies called for back up for a stabbing at 511 North Plum Street in Princeton.  50-year old Penny Riley was taken to Caldwell County Medical Center, where she succumbed to her injuries.

Police say Riley got into an argument with 39-year old John Barnwell, II, which turned physical.  The autopsy confirmed Riley died of a single stab wound. He fled the scene and was taken into custody at his residence on Needmore Road.  Barnwell was charged with murder and theft of an automobile. He is lodged in the Caldwell County Jail.

The investigation is continuing by Detective Sumner.  KSP Post 2 troopers and detectives, the Princeton Police Department, the Caldwell County Sheriff's Department and the Caldwell County Coroner’s Office assisted at the scene.
