Kentucky officials are working to expand the military service contracts and offerings in the state, especially with the recent announcement about army reorganization. Kentucky Commission on Military Affairs Chair and Executive Director, retired Colonel David Thompson says the commission is working with the armed forces to explore ideal expansions at Fort Campbell.
Thompson says one of the three main focuses for the services in the coming years will be unmanned aerial systems.
The other two focuses will be cyber technology and special operations support. While Fort Knox and the surrounding community is preparing for drastic changes over the next year, Fort Campbell is relatively stable.
Once the army reorganization is complete, Fort Campbell will become the 3rd largest army post in the United States.
