City Restaurant Tax Takes Effect July 1st In Cadiz

Restaurants and prepared food providers in the City of Cadiz will begin collecting the three percent restaurant tax July 1st, with Trigg County Tourism to receive the first check by early September.
City Clerk Lisa Rogers says she will be sending letters explaining the tax collection process to all restaurants and prepared food sellers inside the Cadiz City limits. She says the ordinance that was approved by Cadiz City Council Tuesday, June 4th, will be published June 19th. Once the ordinance is published, tax collection will begin July 1st, with the first tax returns due to the city of Cadiz by August 15th. Rogers says she expects to send the first check to the Cadiz-Trigg County Tourism Commission by the end of August or early September.
Rogers says the three percent tax will also be assessed on all restaurants and any prepared food sales at businesses such as Food Giant, Hancock's Neighborhood Market, the Minit Mart, Caseys General Store, Ideal Market and Daily's Market.
