The City of Hopkinsville is one step closer to having a new Chief Administrative Officer after the Compensation Committee forwarded a proposed contract to the City Council. During the meeting Tuesday night, Committee Chairman Charlie Henderson proposed a blended contract, which included a salary of almost 80-thousand dollars.
Paul Henson was one of the first to voice his displeasure with the salary.
Don Ahart, who motioned to forward the contract, walked a fine line when discussing his support.
Though not on the committee, Councilman Wesley Grimes was in attendance and supported Hensons call to back the salary down one level, which would amount to about three-thousand dollars. The contract was forwarded to council by a three to two vote. Kim McCarley and Ahart voted yes, Henson and Buddy Oglesby voted no and Henderson broke the tie with a final yes vote.
