Weather Radio Alerts Fixed

On Thursday night of last week a strong storm system moved through the area prompting severe thunderstorm warnings across western Kentucky but some area residents didn't get the message on their weather radios.

Warning Coordination Meteorologist Rick Shanklin says they did have some issues that night in addition to phone lines being cut, a computer system responsible for weather radios shut down.

Shanklin says they have diagnosed the problem and are working to avoid similar issues in the future.

Shanklin says its always important to have more than one source for weather alerts including AM FM radio and text alerts. To sign up for the Weather Edge Text Alerts visit our websites and click on the right side of the page.
