Wings Of Destiny Receives Rousing Welcome Wednesday

A welcomed sight that will become more frequent over the next few months is the return of Fort Campbell troops. 102 101st Combat Aviation Brigade soldiers landed around 3:30 Wednesday morning to a screaming crowd and an overwhelming excitement.

101st Airborne Division (Air Assault) Deputy Commander of Support, Brigadier General Ronald Lewis says the mission is also about protecting our forces as they transition out.

As the 101st CAB transitions home, the first units to return to Fort Campbell are elements of the 2-17 Cavalry Regiment, Task Force Saber and 96th Aviation Support Battalion, TF Troubleshooter. Another welcome home ceremony is scheduled for Thursday evening and will include soldiers from the 3rd Brigade Combat Team.
