It appears that the issue of a statewide public smoking ban is now dead for this session of the Kentucky General Assembly. The proposed legislation has been sent to the House Judiciary Committee for further review, which makes it highly unlikely that it could pass in this legislative session.
House Speaker Greg Stumbo says he doesn't expect the measure to make it back to the full House for consideration. Governor Beshear pressed for the smoking ban during his annual State of the Commonwealth speech earlier this month.
