Citizens Police Academy Coming Up

The Hopkinsville Police Department says they still have a few openings for their 12th annual Citizen's Police Academy. This year's academy is set to get underway Thursday, March 7. The seven week long course highlights the activities of the department and gives the public a chance to see what the department does on a daily basis.

The classes are taught by members of the department, which gives the class members a chance to meet officers in a positive environment. All weekly classes are scheduled for Thursday evenings and will be held at the Murray State University Campus in Hopkinsville at 6:00 pm.

Topics covered will include patrol, investigations, K-9 demonstrations, and firearms training. The class culminates with a graduation ceremony and dinner. Those who are interested can pick up an application at the Hopkinsville Police Department. Applications will be accepted until Monday, March 4. All students must be at least 18-years of age.
